Datum:10.12.2008 - Rating: 4/5A very enjoyable book that enhanced my curiosity about Angola. It's refreshing that the author does not analyse the situation in Angola from a scientific perspective but gives a very vivid account of his own experience. Fascinating to learn about the contrast between the beauty of the scenery and the passion of the people on the one hand, and the terrible living conditions of the population on the other hand. The book contains lots of beautiful and sometimes funny pictures. Only downside: The practical travel advice in the appendix is a bit slim and probably not quite sufficient for organizing a trip to Angola.

Mir haben vor allem die Geschichten über die kleinen und größeren Niederlagen gefallen, die der Autor sehr unterhaltsam und mit viel Humor beschreibt. Ich hätte mir jedoch ein bisschen mehr Hintergrundinformationen über die Geschichte und Politik des Landes gewünscht.

There are many thought provoking stories that leave you wondering or surprised. It shows how Angola is transforming - itself as well as the foreigner living there. I like it since it offers the right mix of the authors experience as well as facts and numbers. Lost in transformation is devided up into many small "situations" and "themes", easy to read and illustrated with photos.
